The Independent Journalists Association of Serbia (NUNS) on Wednesday condemned the pro-government Informer tabloid newspaper for another attack on N1 TV.
“NUNS condemns the new attack by Informer on N1 TV as another manifestation of shamelessness and unprofessional behaviour by the tabloid which is there only for the propaganda of the ruling nomenclature,” a statement said.
“In its customary manner, Informer publishes indictments of the media and journalists which are not liked by the authorities and targets them as traitors of allies of opposition leaders. In a story on Tuesday, Informer repeated once again that N1 TV is (Serbian opposition leader Dragan) Djilas’ and accuses it of “blaming the Serbs for the (Kosovo police unit) ROSU attack in Kosovo,” the statement said.
NUNS added that TV PINK contributed to what it said is a dirty campaign by publishing the accusations against N1 TV on its web site at the same time as Informer, “in line with its editorial policy which openly serves the ruling elite”.
The association said it would call its representatives in the Press Council to speak out against the violations of ethics by Informer, the NUNS executive committee said in the statement.
