Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic was at a meeting with Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajoat the time of a terrorist attack near the presidential palace in Mogadishu, the Serbian state TV (RTS) reported.

A car bomb exploded at a security check point near the presidential palace while soldiers were checking vehicles. The suicide bomber killed at least nine people, including former foreign minister turned presidential advisor Husein Elabe Fahi, and wounded at least 13 others, the police said. Responsibility for the attack was claimed by Al-Shabab.

Dacic said that a strong explosion was heard in the palace. „We are used to that, we were bombed,“ Dacic told the Somali President who replied that some Westerners would have fled immediatelly.
