British inventor Richard Browning flew his jet suit across the Sava lake at Belgrade’s Ada Ciganlija prior to the World Minds conference which opens on Thursday.
Flying with the jet suit feels like a dream and then it becomes like riding a bike when you no longer think about how to ride it but where you want to go, Browning said. The flight was recorded by Brainz TV.
Browning told N1 that he developed the jet suit for his own pleasure but added that the invention might have a practical use some day in rescue missions or traffic.
Browning said that the suit has one big engine similar to those on jet aircraft and smaller engines on the arms to steer the suit in flight.
“The engines warm up, you feel the power in your arms and you lift off. You just spread your arms to take off,” he said. He said he did not intend to make a super hero costume. A part of me says it is too noisy, dangerous and uses too much fuel but on the other hand, the first cars were noisy and used a lot of fuel. Maybe this is the first step in a new future but for now this is just for fun, Browning said.
The latest version of the jet suit sold for 440,000 Dollars. He said he does not want to sell the suit to too many people because it isn’t something for everyday use.
