Democratic Party (DS) MP Balsa Bozovic warned on Wednesday that the authorities are trying to hide the privatization of communal services companies in Belgrade through amendments to the law on the Serbian capital.
Bozovic told reporters in the lobby of the Serbian Parliament that the communal services companies would be privatized with the prices of their services raised but not their quality. He said the privatization would include the water supply, sewer and garbage service companies.
He said the draft law, which is on the agenda of parliament, would legalize the illegal dealings of Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic since 2015 in league with the City Construction Land Directorate.
“The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) is not even allowing Belgraders and people in other places in Serbia the election of their own mayors,” he said commenting the draft law which he said was being kept hidden from the population.
