Serbian National Bank (NBS) Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic told a World Bank (WB) delegation that Serbia’s economic environment stimulates business, the NBS said in a press release on Monday.
The meeting at the NBS headquarters discussed the implementation of joint projects and future cooperation and concluded that Serbia proved that it deserves full support and has the potential to achieve a growth rate of seven percent, it added.
The press release quoted Tabakovic as saying that conditions had been created for sustainable growth and development and adding that the NBS is investing efforts to stimulate and strengthen competition.
According to Tabakovic, the NBS is creating a secure and efficient payments infrastructure along with a wide range of payment instruments and services adapted to the needs of private individuals. She recalled that an instant payments system had been put in place in October 2018. „Those are areas the NBS will focus on to make the business environment even more attractive,“ she said.
