Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbia’s Minister of Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure, signed on Wednesday several agreements on cooperation between China and Serbia on projects in road and railway traffic, the Beta news agency reported.
The signed agreements, protocols and memorandums on understanding relate to the northern corridor, reconstruction and modernisation of the railroad junction at the corridor H connecting Belgrade to the northern city of Nis and the southwestern town of Presevo to the state border with North Macedonia.
After the signing of the deals with China, Vucic said that "in ten days the southern part of the Corridor 10 would be finished. "You will be able to go to Skopje and Thessaloniki without a meter that is not a part of the motorway," he said.
Mihajlovic, who is a part of Belgrade delegation headed by President Aleksandar Vucic at the ‘Belt and Road’ forum in Beijing, has also signed the Memorandum of understanding on the construction of a part of the Belgrade by-pass with the Chinese consortium “Power China” and “Azvirt” from Azerbaijan.
Besides, she signed the Memorandum on cooperation on the realisation of the “Belgrade Metro” project with the same company.
Mihajlovic has said the loans Serbia agrees upon for the important infrastructural projects are under the most favourable conditions, not only regarding the interest rate but also concerning the pay-off deadline and the grace period duration.
“The other countries in Sout-Eastern Europe don’t have such conditions since Serbia is the only one still using the fund for preferential loans,” Mihajlovic said.
