Tensions won’t drop without dialogue, Serbian opposition leader says Izvor: N1

Tensions won’t drop without a dialogue between the opposition and authorities, Serbian opposition leader Dragan Djilas warned on Friday.

Djilas told Radio Free Europe that a dialogue “does not mean a meeting between heads of party MP groups to discuss the agenda of parliament”.

According to Djilas, a dialogue means that the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) has to do its job, that the Serbian state TV (RTS) does its job, that we get democratic and fair election rules, that we lower tensions in society and that we get elections at which the citizens should express their views”.

“We won’t lower tension without talks and the place where the dialogue will be held, whether in parliament or somewhere else, is not that important,” he said, adding that things have to go back to what he called a peace-time regime before a solution can be found.
