A Serbian family was evicted from their apartment in New Belgrade on Tuesday over a debt to the bank which holds their mortgage indexed in Swiss Francs.

Activists of the ZA Krov (roof) organization tried but failed to prevent the eviction of the Aksentijevic family. The activists said the police broke down the door, ordered the mother and son out under threat and then allowed bailiffs to change the locks and make an inventory of everything in the apartment.

The Aksentijevic family claims that the bank which holds their mortgage had no right to sell their home and added that they had filed criminal charges and complaints with the Bailiffs Chamber, Justice Ministry and courts.
