Chicago’s Millennium Park hosted the first #1in5million protest, where protestors said that even though they are far away from Serbia, they are not giving up on it and that they will fight for Serbia’s future and its children till the end.

What kind of man must you be to watch your homeland get destroyed, to watch your family, friends and neighbours suffer? Do we want Serbia to be a country where only the dead are left to visit – is that the future we want?,” asked Antonije Kovacevic, a journalist who spoke on behalf of protest organisers.

On behalf of the #1in5millionCHICAGO, “an independent, patriotic, non-party group that supports the protests in Serbia against the current regime with its actions aimed at preventing the further destruction of Serbia,” Kovacevic read their demands, some of which are:

- Immediate dismissal of the current government at all levels in Serbia,

- The formation of an interim-government made of uncompromised politicians,

- An investigation into the origin of the property of all state officials who served in the past 25 years, and so on.

The protestors said that this was just the beginning and that they will notify their countrymen and neighbours and that they will try to organise similar protests in other US and Canadian cities.
