BG-MAME PROTEST SOT-14-MAS

Representatives of the initiative 'Mame su Zakon' (Moms Rule) said at their protest on Sunday that it has been 14 months since future mothers and mothers in Serbia were called the “birth mafia” and nearly eight months since the “shameful” law on financial assistance to families with children has been adopted.

The law reduced the assistance because of an alleged conflict with women who were accused of abusing the system.

The protesters said that the state has deprived them of their basic rights in raising their children and that it does not take enough care of pregnant women and those who gave birth.

Apart from that, parents of children with disabilities said they were also deprived of financial assistance from the budget.
