The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) on Tuesday condemned the threats made against N1 TV and called the police and prosecutors to launch an immediate investigation.

The UNS recalled that under the law threats to people providing information to the public draw a possible sentence of six months to five years.

A letter signed by people claiming to be war veterans threatened to blow up the station’s building and warned of possible harm to journalists’ families. The head of the war veterans’ association told N1 that the organization was not behind the letter and called the police to investigate.

The UNS statement said it expects the people responsible for the threats to be punished in line with the law.
