President Aleksandar Vucic told reporters at the Global Forum in Davos that Serbia is ready to completely open its borders to everyone to ensure the free flow of goods, services, capital and people.
“This is one of the key ideas that I started out with as prime minister and am continuing as president. The forming of a regional economic zone, completely free flow of goods, capital, services and people is of top importance to us. The entire region will do better if we achieve that. We will have more investments, we will be more successful, richer and Europe and the world will understand us better,” he said.
International organizations show more commitment to speedier solutions for problems in the Balkans in the future but there are different views with too much past and little future in the region, he said.
According to Vucic, Pristina’s decision to impose 100 percent tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina has been condemned by everyone as have attempts to rename the Republika Srpska.
He said that he hopes the tariffs will be revoked but does not believe that will happen. “We have to continue talking regardless of the fact that we know we can’t show too much trust. I don’t believe they will easily revoke the tariffs but I hope they will and I think the pressure on them is increasing,” Vucic said.
