Belgrade’s Infective Diseases Clinic will undergo restoration as of next autumn, the Serbian state TV (RTS) reported on Wednesday.
The RTS said that there has been mention of a complete restoration of the clinic for more than 20 years. It added that the building is in very bad shape with peeling plaster, rusty beds and mould in the bathrooms.
Clinic Director Goran Stevanovic said that the preparations for the restoration were completed at his meeting with representatives of the Health Ministry and Office for Capital Investments.
He said the difficulty lies in the fact that the clinic has to remain close to the Serbian Clinical Centre which operates 24/7. We agreed that the work will not be paused nor the clinic moved for the duration of the stage-by-stage renovation,” Stevanovic said adding that a new building would also be built.
