Djilas blames Vucic for climate of violence in Serbia Izvor: N1

Former Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas has blamed Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for what he says is a climate of violence.

Djilas told the Financial times that Vucic might not have ordered the physical assault on opposition leader Borko Stefanovic which prompted weeks of protests but that the “climate of violence was due in large part to him”.

“Vucic has drawn a target on our backs,” he said.

Speaking about the 1 in 5 Million protests which spread to places outside the Serbian capital for the first time over the weekend, Djilas said that “these people are not coming [to the protests] because of opposition politicians, they are coming for themselves.”
