Behgjet Pacolli, Kosovo’s Foreign Minister said on Tuesday he hoped that his country would join Interpol on November 20, at the organisation’s yearly General Assembly in the United Arab Emirates, the FoNet news agency reported.
Kosovo’s request is supposed to be on the agenda.
Pristina - based Zeri newspaper said that last year Kosovo withdrew the request because it did not have enough votes, but its leaders said that the situation was much better now.
The two-thirds of the present members at the Interpol General Assembly meeting is needed to approve the newcomers.
Belgrade fiercely opposes Pristina’s entry to Interpol, with Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic saying that Kosovo would use it as the back door to its United Nations membership.
