Ivica Dacic, Serbia’s Foreign Minister, said on Tuesday that the reports on the Government reshuffle had been on the agenda for a while, but that it had been put on hold due to the Kosovo issue, the Beta news agency reported.

Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic announced the reconstruction of the cabinet last Friday and the Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic was quoted as saying that some ministers had been in the government for too long.

"I think that the idea about the reconstruction has been around for some time, but has been put on hold because of Kosovo,” Dacic told the Belgrade-based Prva television, adding that it was up to the Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, “and primarily up to the President of Serbia,” to decide when it would happen.

Asked if he was concerned about his ministerial post, Dacic, who heads the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), the main Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) coalition partner, said that because of that partnership his position was specific.

“The coalition with Aleksandar Vucic (the SNS leader) functions well, and he will be the best person to decide on any changes in the government,” Dacic added.

He said that a reshuffle “is always positive,” though, in the essence of its politics, the SPS does not incline to changes and early elections."

Speaking about Kosovo, Dacic said he expected more recognition of its independence to be withdrawn by the end of the year thus reducing the number of the states that did it to under one hundred.

He reminded that 2,000 days passed since the Brussels Agreement (on Belgrade – Pristina relations) was signed and that Kosovo did not intend to comply with its provisions.

At the same time, Dacic added, the international community did not try hard enough to force Pristina to implement the already agreed parts.
