Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told the Reuters news agency on Thursday that an agreement between Belgrade and Pristina should include clear guarantees of Serbia’s membership in the European Union.
He said that his words are not something that many European leaders want to hear before the coming elections for the European Parliament.
Any agreement reached by Belgrade and Pristina will be better than a solution which some third party could bring, he said.
“If we reach an agreement, Belgrade and Pristina, Serbia would have to get clear guarantees that it will join the EU in 2025. Do you think the citizens of all the member states want to hear that in the election campaign? Do you think that many of the member state politicians want to hear that? I wouldn’t bet on it,” the Serbian president said.
