Kosovo President Hashim Thaci said on Wednesday that he can’t see a peaceful solution without an agreement with Serbia.
“We all know that we can’t reach a peaceful solution without a dialogue and negotiations with Serbia. Any other way is impossible, unacceptable. An agreement will be very hard to reach, there will be many difficulties, barriers but I am an optimist. Better now than in two or three decades,” Thaci told a new conference with Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
According to the Kosovo president, a status quo is unacceptable. “We do not have the right to hold hostage our children’s future,” he said and added that the negotiations will intensify with both the ruling coalition and opposition backing the dialogue.
“We will not reach any kind of agreement which could undermine our neighbours. It will be European in essence, in the interest of Kosovo and Serbia and will not be made along ethnic lines. We will preserve the substance, essence and multi-ethnicity of Kosovo and Serbia,” he said.
