Serbian footwear factory Tigar said on Thursday that it has started making rubber boots for the Finnish military.

According to a press release, the Tigar Pirot plant will make 15,000 pairs of rubber boots worth 660,000 Euros.

The Berner-owned Nokian footwear company, Tigar’s strategic buyers, won a tender to supply rubber boots for the Finnish army and decided to have them made in Serbia, it added. Berner and Nokian are Finnish companies.

Tigar CEO Vladimir Ilic is quoted as saying that the military footwear has to be resistant to chemicals and high temperatures.

Tigar also expects to make footwear for the Swedish military in 2019.
