Serbia’s Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar said on Wednesday virtually all medication prices will be lowered under new government rules.

He said that “98.6 percent” of all medicament prices will be lowered. “Things will be changed when the government adopts rules to lower the prices of 98.6 percent of medicaments, introduce the latest medication for breast cancer treatment, leukemia and hepatitis C,” the minister said.

The medication prices are being brought in line with prices in certain other countries and the next step is to intgroduce medication for arterial hypertension of the lungs for adults which is very expensive and is used only in the most developed countries, Loncar said.
