Serbia’s Vucic worries about support for Albanians Izvor: Tanjug/Dragan Kujundžić

Aleksandar Vucic, the President of Serbia, said on Friday he was concerned about the latest events in Kosovo and worried the Albanians would “take other measures at some point.”

He asked the international community to take that into account.

“I fear that, with the mute support of someone, they (the Albanians) decided not only to bring uncertainty and anxiety among the Serbs, especially the returnees, but to scare them more, with similar acts as they have done”, recently, Vucic told the state RTS television.

He referred to the arrest of Serbia’s Office for Kosovo chief Marko Djuric and the murder of a Kosovo Serb leader Oliver Ivanovic in Pristina.

Vucic said that it all started in 2004 following the unrest in Kosovo which, he added, actually triggered the proclamation and recognition of Kosovo’s independence (in 2008).

He said that then “the Albanians took matters in their hands with the constant support of some Western countries.”

Serbia’s President added that “no one will hide anything” from the citizens and reiterated that a referendum (on a legally binding deal with Pristina) was a way of checking their will.

“When we get something we can tell people, we will do that, and a referendum is one of the solutions. If you want to change the Constitution, you will have to go to the referendum,” Vucic said.
