Kadri Veseli, Kosovo’s Parliament Speaker asked Israel to recognise Pristina’s independence on Monday and promise the building of a synagogue.

Veseli attended a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Israeli state and said a new synagogue would be built to enable “Jewish citizens to practice their religion” in Pristina.

Kosovo’s capital had a synagogue until 1963, while now its place is occupied by Kosovo’s Parliament and Government. A memorial built on the location reads: “People of Kosovo will never forget them.”
